An educational session entitled "Women – the Light of the World" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

On February 27, 2026, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an educational session titled “Women — The Light of the World” for third-year students of the 6B02304 — Translation Studies program. The event was conducted within the framework of pedagogical practice and organized by Chen Tianxin, a doctoral student in Translation Studies, under the supervision of the group advisor Ms. R.A. Torekhanova.

Designed as a participatory classroom conversation rather than a lecture, the session aimed to promote respectful attitudes toward women and encourage reflection on equality, dignity, and responsibility, while also strengthening students’ communication skills. The discussion opened with guiding questions about women’s roles in family life, university settings, and society, helping students connect the theme with everyday experience.

Students then worked in groups on short situational tasks focused on ethical communication. They analyzed the scenarios, identified respectful and inappropriate language choices, and suggested more responsible ways to express meaning—an especially relevant exercise for future translation professionals who work with nuance, tone, and intercultural sensitivity. Each group presented its conclusions, fostering teamwork and confident speaking in a supportive atmosphere.

A brief quiz followed to consolidate key ideas, serving as an engaging recap rather than an assessment. In the closing reflection, students discussed how the values addressed in the session can be applied both in daily interaction and in future professional communication.

Overall, the event demonstrated how moral reflection can be effectively combined with practical communication training through student-centered discussion and interactive tasks.
